LOCATION SCOUTING
FOR PRESENTATION OF THE EMOTION ORGAN
Parliament building (Stortinget), OSLO
05 February 2006
Still attempting to address the issue of the public presentation of my project, I got the idea that politicians may benefit from an unusual sensory experience as they enter the Parliament building in Oslo. After all, the various political parties in Norway are symbolically represented by only 3 colours: red/green/blue. Possibly an exposure to unusual sensory connections (as experienced by playing The Emotion Organ) involving a wider ranger of colours may affect their outlook on things!
So I took a guided tour of the building on a cold Saturday morning to check out the space.
When politicians vote on something they can chose between two options:
Vote for the motion > push the green button.
Vote against the motion > push the red button!
And now back to possible spaces for The Emotion Organ in the Parliament building.
The entrance hall could provide a suitable location:
As would the hall (called the Eidsvollsgalleriet) on the second floor, once used as a recreational space (smoking and reading), now used as a reception area.
I actually like the idea of presenting The Emotion Organ here. It could be presented during working hours so that politicians could experience the work, and for the public during the 3 guided tours provided free for the public each Saturday morning. However, in practical terms I do not know if I have the time left to research and organize such an event before I have to submit the plan for the presentation and evaluation of my project. This issue of planning in details so far ahead is one of the most difficult things for me at this stage in my fellowship period.
