AT MT STUDIO IN OSLO
SUBJECT: AROMA DISPENSING SYSTEM FOR
THE EMOTION ORGAN
MAY 2006
I am getting towards the stage where I can start to install all the sensors and other periphery parts in the organ, but several issues remain unsolved. One of these is the construction of the system for dispensing aromas.
As previously described I am using a system of airbrush guns with cups containing aromas connected to an air compressor to disperse aromas. By placing solenoid push-type magnets over the valve and using Max software, a lanbox and a kind of relay box, the solenoids can be controlled so that they push down on the airbrush gun valves to release small doses of aroma oil. The problem is that I need a frame that holds the valves securely in place over the airbrush gun valves very precisely, that can be fixed to the organ, and is aesthetically appropriate. I must also be able to dismantle the system to wash the airbrush guns after each day of use, and to adjust them when necessary.
Carle Lange suggested that I contact his nephew, Marcus Martinuzzi, who is
studying the fiddly bits of industrial design to help me out. After an hour
discussing the implications described above, Marcus left my studio with a
plan that he thought would work.
