FELLOWSHIP MEETING/SEMINAR
Voksenåsen Conference centre, Oslo
13 - 14 MARCH 2006
I attended the spring meeting for The Programme for Research Fellowships in
the Arts, a compulsary part of the programme attended by candidates, supervisors,
board members and other observers.
The first day started with Research fellow Tyra Tønnessen's presentation of her project: Planned intuition, conscious paths to the unconscious – a development of Stanislavskij’s methodology of improvisation. We then split into working groups where I presented my project under the banner of What is burning in my project now.
After lunch guest speaker Henk Borgdorff, Professor of Art Theory and Research at the Amsterdam School of the Arts, gave a lecture about conflicts in arts research, followed up with comments by Stein Rønning, Professor, Faculty of Fine Art, Oslo National Academy of the Arts and discussion.
Before dinner the 3rd year candidates organised a meeting with the fellowship
steering committee to clear up conflicts and uncertainties about the final
appraisal of our projects.
The second day guest speaker Claire Bishop, Leverhulme Research Fellow in
the Curating Contemporary Art Department at the Royal College of Art, London
gave a lecture, followed up by an ethical discussion about art, provoked by
examples of artworks where the public is unknowingly subjected to adverse
situations.
I then took part in a working group led by 2nd year candidate Hans H. Rasmussen,
who presented his project under the banner of What is at stake in my project
now.
After lunch third year research fellows presented the development, challenges
and changes their projects have undergone, followed by concluding remarks
and practical information.
