EMOTION ORGAN
DISMANTLING THE ORGAN
19 March 2005
I have received a sample of the KS-61 MIDI Controller strip previously
described in the file "Organ Modification: Physical inputs" (see
timeline to the right!) which will not fit in the desried postion beneath
the black keys.

However, after much trying, testing and measuring I have found an alternative
position behind the black keys which will give just enough motion for the
sensor strip actuators to provide an adequate signal. 4mm of motion should
be enough.
I then continued to dismantle the organ to find out if I can also install
the pedal sensors, available as an addition to the sensor strip. I also wanted
to explore the inner mechanisms of the organ to see if the proposed idea of
using magnets to get signals from the 8 sliding knobs would be appropriate.
However, I encountered a hurdle in the form of a difficult-to-get-to defect
screw that hindered my efforts to delve further. Thanks to the efforts of
Per Platou and his father, Øivind Selvig (fanatical vintage car and
motor cycle restorer), the problem was eventually overcome.
You can see the development of the dismantling process HERE.
