MEETINGS WITH HARALD FETVEIT
at my studio in Oslo
May- June 2005

I phoned artist Harald Fetveit to ask for his advice and eventual assisstance in installing the KS-61 MIDI sensor strip under the keys of the organ - a task that was proving to be problematic due to the difference in distance between the keys of the organ and the actuators of the sensor strip.

Harald Fetveit has worked with noise since the mid 80´s. He studied visual arts at the Art academies of Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim and Vienna. Since then he has created environmental installation works in Norway and Germany, and worked with a variety of aspects of performance art and theatre with, among others, Baktruppen and Verdensteatret. He has since retraced his steps to focus on his interest in audio, is an active DJ, organises a regular club called Dance for Grown-ups and is involved in establishing a platform for dance/music improvisation explorations.

I contacted Harald because, in addition to his other talents, he is a great handyman, creative problem solver and perfectionist. It became obvious that a creative solution involving the physical modification of many of the organ keys would be required to solve the sensor strip installition process.

While our first meeting actually took place in May, practical worked started in June and involved further dismatling of the organ's sound panel.

The work continues ........
