The Virtual Wash installation juxtaposed Islamic prayer prepartions with western advertising retoric: keeping clean is a matter for body, mind and soul. Wash and pray, five times a day. In the absence of water a washing ritual may be performed - the virtual wash.

The cafe's concrete floor was adorned with carpets, a digital muezzin called out for prayer five times each day, while washing instructions were available in the toilets. A regularly updated view of the cafˇ from the direction of Mecca was available on the Motherboard homepage thanks to a quickcam installed in the digital mini-mosque, a touch of java scripting, and the shareware, "webcam".
